Visakha Vidyalaya Colombo emerged champions in the Under 20 and Under 17 girls’ tennis tournaments of the All-Island Schools Games conducted at the Sri Lanka Tennis Association courts last week.
In the Under 20 girls’ tourney, Visakha beat Methodist 2-0 while Ladies College beat Bishops College 2-0 to book final berths. In the final, Visakha edged out Ladies with a 2-1 win.
In the third-place match, Methodist beat Bishops 2-1.
In the Under 17 girls’ semi-final, Newstead College, Negombo beat Musaeus College Colombo 2-1 and Visakha beat Bishops 2-0. In the final encounter, Visakha beat Newstead 2-1. Musaeus secured the third places with a 2-0 win over Bishops.
