Visakha Vidyalaya Senior Choir, comprising 28 talented singers, participated in the prestigious “A Voyage of Songs – International Choral Competition 2025”, from August 2nd to 5th in Bangkok, Thailand.
This international event brought together choirs from Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore and the Philippines creating a vibrant platform for musical diversity and cultural celebration.
The invitation came to Visakha in recognition of the choir’s persistent and remarkable achievement of being ranked No. 1 in Sri Lanka in the Girls’ Category, for four consecutive years. This distinction highlights the choir’s artistic excellence, cultural richness, and dedication to musical innovation. Their most recent concert “Visakha in Chorus 2024” , held at the Lionel Wendt Theatre in November 2024 showcased their immense talent.
Visakha’s success spanned across three competitive categories:
- Gold – Chamber Choir
- Gold – Equal Voice
- Gold – Folklore
- Category Champion – Equal Voice
- Best Conductor – Rohan de Lanerolle
