Visakha Vidyalaya rowing crew powered their way to victory by clinching the top honours in the Women’s Open Championships at the China–Sri Lanka Friendship Cup Dragon Boat Championship 2025, held on Saturday at the Diyawanna Rowing Centre in Battaramulla. This regatta was organised by the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Sri Lanka in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.
Visakha Vidyalaya proved too strong for their rivals, taking home the Open Women’s Championship title along with 22 gold medals. The Visakhians, led by Captain Anusara Akmeemana and Vice Captain Thisali Welage, also secured gold in the Junior Girls’ Category, making them the only team to win both events they entered.
