Cultural Day: Bridging Cultures and Building Community
On September 11, 2024, Visakha Vidyalaya’s annual Cultural Day transformed the school into a vibrant passageway of colours, rhythms, and cultural narratives of sights, sounds, and stories of five incredible countries: Japan, China, the United Kingdom, France, and our beloved Sri Lanka. This year’s theme, “Cultura: Voyage Vista,” invited students, teachers, and guests to explore a breathtaking panorama of global cultures, connecting hearts and minds across continents. This celebration also placed a special focus on cultural tourism, encouraging everyone to immerse themselves in the diverse traditions, arts, and histories of different countries—giving us all the opportunity to travel the world without leaving our seats.
Cultural Day also honoured the contributions of past board members of the Arts and Commerce Society and celebrated the accomplishments of winners from Inter- and Intra-school competitions. As the program came to an end, the Secretary of the Arts Society expressed sincere gratitude, especially to our Honorable Chief Guest, Mr. Chalaka Gajabahu, whose insights on cultural tourism resonated with everyone, and to our Guest of Honor, Mrs. Vidyani Hettigoda, whose presence added meaning to the day.
